South Helix unavailable in McNamara Parking Deck, starting June 15

DETROIT – The South Helix will be temporarily inaccessible to all vehicles between June 15 and Sept. 15 to accommodate scheduled construction and renovation work in the McNamara Terminal. During that timeframe, alternate routes and directional signage will be displayed to help guide motorists toward the North Helix.

Parking System Testing Underway in McNamara Garage

Parking at DTW will soon become easier. DTW will unveil a parking guidance system in the McNamara Terminal Garage later this year. But first, the system must undergo testing. With this new technology, colored lights above parking spaces help customers identify available spots. A green light indicates an open space, while a red light indicates an occupied space. During testing, the lights may not be accurate; parking availability displays and directional arrows will not be operational.

MDOT ‘Restore I-94’ Construction Project

June 10, 2026

DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Transportation's "Restore I-94" construction project – which extends from Wayne Road to Schaefer Road – is currently in progress. MDOT will refurbish nearly 13 miles of the I-94 corridor, from east of I-275 to west of Michigan Avenue. Scheduled for completion by 2029, this three-year initiative includes pavement replacement, bridge repairs and the construction of a new interchange at Ecorse Road.
