2026 ADAPT Exercise
2026 ADAPT Exercise
June 16, 2026
The Airport Authority will conduct its 2026 Airport Disaster and Preparedness Training (ADAPT) full-scale exercise on Wednesday, June 17 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Held every three years in compliance with FAA regulations, the exercise is scheduled to begin at approximately 8 a.m. and conclude around 11:30 a.m.
The exercise will simulate a mass casualty incident involving an aircraft. It is designed to evaluate the coordinated response capabilities of our Emergency and Support Services (ESS) Division — which includes Fire, Police, Security and Special Services — as well as our mutual aid partners.
Here's what to expect:
- ESS personnel and units will be responding to the simulation as if it was real.
- Lights and sirens on emergency vehicles will be active and visible to the public.
- Local media outlets will be on-site to observe.
Please be assured this is a scheduled and controlled exercise, not an actual emergency. The Airport Authority thanks you for your understanding and support.
